Solace and Longing emerged from my move to the Middle East, where I was deeply struck by the intensity of human emotion woven into daily life. The depth of feeling I encountered—passionate, raw, and unguarded—left a profound impression on me. Yet, beneath this emotional richness lay an enduring strength, shaped by the land and the ever-present currents of regional history and politics.

This series reflects that duality—the ability to find refuge while remaining awake to life’s uncertainties. In a place where external unpredictability is constant, people cultivate an inner stillness, a space where hope and apprehension coexist. Sleep portrays two figures—one blissfully surrendered to dreams, the other awake, eyes fixed on an uncertain horizon. Through these etchings, I explore the fragile balance between surrender and vigilance, between the need for comfort and the inevitability of change.
