Occidentally Colliding

Price range: 135,00 € through 850,00 €

“Occidentally” is a series of photo collages created in 2018 that explores the interplay between two distinct worlds—Berlin, a city marked by its iconic urban energy, and Jordan, a landscape defined by the timeless expanse of its deserts. Using black and white analog film as a medium, these works overlay multiple exposures, blending the structured modernity of Berlin with the organic, ancient vastness of Jordan.

This series aims to challenge perceptions of place and identity, juxtaposing the East and West in a dialogue that transcends geographic and cultural boundaries. Berlin’s recognizable landmarks, steeped in history and transformation, serve as counterpoints to Jordan’s elemental desert landscapes, which evoke a sense of eternity and resilience. The collages blur these contrasts, suggesting an intricate interconnection between spaces that are often seen as opposites.

It invites viewers to consider how our environments shape us and how, in turn, we layer our interpretations onto the landscapes we inhabit or dream of. This series is not merely about East and West, but about the unexpected beauty found in their convergence.
